It’s been more than 50 years since the Stonewall riots, one of the most important events leading to the modern fight for LGBTQ rights

Whilst progress has been made, more is needed to achieve equality in important parts of life, such as starting a family. It was only in 2002 when gay couples were allowed to adopt. Surprisingly as recent as 2010 in the UK, new law was passed to allow same sex couples to become the legal parents of their biological children born following surrogacy.

Throughout June, fertility clinics and other brands across the country change their logos to include a rainbow in celebration of Pride month

But many see this as ‘pink washing’, and as we enter July and logos change back, but some Fertility clinics are going beyond Pride month and showing true unity with the LGBTQ community.

TwoDads UK and Wessex Fertility (part of The Fertility Partnership) have been celebrating Pride month and from the 1st July entered into a partnership

The Fertility clinic based in Southampton are proud to announce that they’re working with TwoDads UK to provide enhanced support and marketing services to Intended Parents exploring UK Surrogacy.

‘This new partnership means a lot to us, we’re so happy to be working with such a wonderful and talented team at Wessex Fertility, it’s so wonderful to witness a clinic take equality and Surrogacy so seriously’ comments Michael Johnson-Ellis, co-founder of TwoDads UK.

Commenting on the move, Gillian Dawes, General Manger, Wessex Fertility said: “We are delighted to be entering a partnership with TwoDads. Their work advising the Government and the fertility industry on how to fairly treat Surrogates and Intended Parents is remarkable.  We look forward to supporting TwoDads, the LGBTQ Community and all of our patients, not just when marking the Stonewall riots or Pride month, but all year round.”

TwoDads UK are the go-to organisation for Intended Fathers exploring UK Surrogacy effectively and they have been active campaigners for change and equality, they have now dedicated their careers to supporting intended parents and driving change

They have been working hard to drive change in with government policy in relation to the Surrogacy Law Reform, DoH Policy in relation to the education of Healthcare professionals about Surrogacy and the treatment of Intended Parents and more recently a NHS legal challenge to ensure NHS Trusts have suitable policy to protect both Intended Parents and Surrogates whilst in Hospital/giving birth.

They host Surrogacy Information Events which to date have had a wait list of Intended Fathers wanting to come and hear about Michael and Wes’ lived experienced and how others can navigate their way through UK Surrogacy.  They also host weekly ‘Introduction to UK Surrogacy’ calls supporting the LGBTQ community, which keeps them busy whilst managing to juggling their kids too!

‘Our latest partnership with Wessex Fertility means we’re working with the team to promote their Surrogacy services, and after observing the clinics performance over the last 12 months we’re delighted to be supporting such an ethical team of fertility and surrogacy champions’ add Wes Johnson-Ellis.

Over the last 3 years they have provided emotional support, helped and guide hundreds of Intended Parents to achieve their dreams of creating a family, who otherwise may have given up hope.  Our new clinic partnerships are a real focus for us in 2020, and we’re delighted to be announced several more this Summer.

They have also recently established The Modern Family Show, the only UK LGBTQ family building educational event in London on the 19th September.
