This is simpler than gestational surrogacy
A surrogate is artificially inseminated through IUI with the intended father’s sperm (as opposed to IVF fertilisation in a lab). Her eggs are also used.
Some people use a clinic for insemination, but usually it happens at home. When the child is born, the surrogate gives the baby to the intended parent or parents.
Why choose this path?
If a couple cannot conceive, surrogacy gives them the opportunity to parent a child who may be linked to them genetically through the partner’s sperm.
For gay male couples, surrogacy offers them the chance to have a family of their own.
