A gay couple have been offered NHS IVF treatment for the first time after Scottish law changed its policy
The married couple hope to conceive their own child using their sperm and will enlist the help of a surrogate mother with a donor providing an egg.
The Scottish Government changed its policy in 2017 when it made it law that any couple, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender could be eligible for free fertility treatment.
The identity of the couple has not been revealed, but they are said to have recently appealed online for an egg donor
The couple said they had been referred by their GP and previous to that had been unaware that the service was provided for free on the NHS.
The news was confirmed by the Scottish Government to the Mail on Sunday.
