US television presenter Andy Cohen has announced he is to become a father for the first time with the help of a surrogate

The 50-year-old Bravo presenter revealed the wonderful news on his hugely popular television show, Watch What Happens Live! on December 20 with guests from the top rated Real Housewives franchise, including Nene Leakes, Kyle Richards and Vicki Gunvalson.

He made the announcement at the end of the show to the watching live audience and millions of viewers, who soon flooded social media with congratulatory messages.

Andy, who is an Emmy award-winning reality television presenter, said he had wanted to have a family for a long time and that it was to become a reality in 2019.

Family means everything

“I’ve always tried to be as transparent as possible about my life. I overshare and I expect everyone around me to do the same and tonight I want you to be the first to know that after many years of careful deliberation, fair amount of prayers and the benefit of science, if all goes according to plan, in about six weeks time, I’m going to become a father thanks to a wonderful surrogate who is carrying my future,” he said. “Family means everything to me and having one of my own is something I’ve wanted in my heart for my entire life and while it has taken me longer than most to get there, I cannot wait for what I envision will be my most rewarding chapter yet.”

And on his New Year’s Eve he made another announcement about the baby’s gender, he is expecting a boy!

The news was revealed on his New Year’s Eve show with his best friend, Cooper Anderson.

The baby is due in early February.
